Pantone Colour of the Year 2026
Pantone has named Cloud Dancer as the Colour of the Year for 2026 — a soft, balanced off-white that feels calm, clean and quietly confident. Unlike some Pantone selections that sit firmly in warm or cool territory, Cloud Dancer sits near the middle. It has a subtle softness that prevents it from feeling stark, yet it still has clarity that keeps it from drifting into cream.
So — is Cloud Dancer warm or cool?
It leans very slightly to the cool side due to its freshness and lack of yellow, but because it is not an icy white, it can be used across several palettes depending on depth and context.
Here’s how it may translate within colour analysis:
- Winters — Cloud Dancer offers a soft alternative to Snow White or Optic White while retaining the needed crispness. Ideal for layering with black, charcoal and jewel tones.
- Summers — Its gentle clarity fits well with the Summer aesthetic, particularly when paired with dusty blues, soft berry tones and silvered greys.
- Light Springs may be able to use it for blouses or base pieces, especially when lifted by warm peach, aqua or coral accents.
- Autumns generally do best avoiding it close to the face — it doesn’t provide the warmth or depth they need. However, it can work in interiors, accessories, or prints if surrounded by richer tones.
How to talk about Cloud Dancer with clients:
➡ Use it as an example of undertone awareness — not all whites are equal.
➡ Demonstrate how contrast and texture change the story.
➡ Show how pairing determines whether a “neutral” reads warm or cool.
➡ Encourage clients to test whites the same way they test lipstick — near the face, in natural light.
Cloud Dancer’s real opportunity for us as colour consultants is education: it invites conversations about subtlety, undertone and harmony — and reminds clients that even the quietest colours deserve thoughtful consideration.
